COMP-ECO Share the Results in SAMPE Europe 25

On 6–7 October 2025, the COMP-ECO team participated in SAMPE Europe 25, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The event was jointly organised by SAMPE Benelux and SAMPE Europe. This year’s conference, themed “The Future of Advanced & Sustainable Composites”, brought together delegates from over 25 countries, including leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals, to exchange insights on the latest developments in composite materials and technologies.

COMP-ECO was featured both in the conference programme and in the exhibition area. The team hosted a dedicated stand showcasing project results and applications. A special highlight was a composite airfoil demonstrator with geometry close to NACA0012, integrating heating wires based on thermoplastic nano-based composites. The system, capable of heating up to 100°C with low current characteristics, was designed as an active de-icing solution for aviation applications, with potential for broader industrial use where icing poses challenges.

The COMP-ECO session included the following presentations:

COMP-ECO project – Joint exploratory research on multifunctional composites and smart structures. Project scope and achievements – Anna Boczkowska

Embedding carbon nanotube-doped filaments in glass fibre reinforced polymer specimens for strain sensing capabilities – Evgenia Madia

Carbon nanotube-doped thermoplastic materials used for structural health monitoring of composite structures – Kamil Dydek, MBA, PhD

Application of piezoelectric sensors for the development of smart composite structures – Michał Dziendzikowski

Structural health monitoring for smart aerospace composite structures – Roger Groves

Participation in SAMPE Europe 25 provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s achievements, exchange ideas with the composites community, and strengthen collaboration toward more sustainable and intelligent material solutions.
