On September 25-26, 2024, the Workshop on Testing of Multifunctional Composites and Smart Structures was held in Dresden at the TU Dresden premises.
This was the third one of a series of four technical workshops organised by COMP-ECO for Polish researchers to provide an insight into the state of the art in multifunctional composites and smart structures based on a sustainable, holistic approach covering the whole product life chain, starting with the design of materials and structures, through appropriately used advanced methods of their production, testing of their properties, in-service aspects and finally reuse and recycling.
The workshop covered the following courses:
Quality Assurance Management
The course enabled comprehensive planning of quality management in design and manufacture of polymers and fibre-reinforced composites and to integrate it into business processes along the entire production chain.
Structural Integrity Assessment
The course covered the basics for the structural integrity assessment of modern lightweight products made of isotropic and anisotropic materials with or without reinforcing materials.
Dr. Albert Langkamp from TU Dresden organised and delivered the workshop that was attended by 14 Polish researchers from WUT and AFIT.
The workshop was organized in the form of an open discussion with smaller tasks and visits to selected laboratories of the INSTITUTE OF LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING AND POLYMER TECHNOLOGY (ILK) to present testing machines, special test equipment, and measuring devices.
Materials from the courses are available in the Project Open Access Repository for use by researchers and students to access state-of-the-art knowledge and by academic staff for curriculum development.
